Maximum temperature too low

Hello, I have replaced the thermostatic cartridge on a bathstore metro horizontal bath/ shower valve but the maximum temperature is not hot enough for the customer. Before replacement of the thermostat the shower would only run like warm at best - this was found to actually be a boiler issue. The boiler has been fixed and all hot outlets are boiling hot now - however the shower and bath are hot but the customer is adamant that the temperature was higher before the problems started. I have set the cartridge to the absolute max setting (turning spindle fully anti clockwise) and I'm guessing the temp is around 40-43 c. As the boiler is a combo then I'm guessing pressure balancing isn't an issue so just wondering if you can shed any advice or whether these cartridges are actually designed to not go above 43c as part of the tmv scheme?

Yes we have come across this problem before.

Regarding the temperature fluctuation or cool running, it could be a faulty cartridge. However to check this if you have the shower fed from a combi boiler, see if you can get hold of the hot supply pipe before it enters the shower or perhaps as it leaves the boiler.

If when holding this pipe the temperature fluctuates or is cool, then the problem is not with the shower but more likely with the boiler, as the shower can only deliver what the boiler sends to it.

Disregard the temperature at the taps as they have a different flow rate.

You can mess about by opening a cold tap somewhere thus reducing the pressure in the cold if you suspect that you have a pressure imbalance.

But in truth usually it's the boiler and no one will believe you!
