Removing Cartridge
Earlier this week we had a new combi boiler fitted which is better spec than old combi boiler. They also turned our cold water pressure down a little as said it had been running too high. Now we have only one flow rate from both shower and bath, less than before, and still no thermostatic control.
When we queried this the plumber said we needed new thermostatic cartridges in both valves. After reading various things on web though, we are now wondering whether the problem maybe that they were never fitted properly in the first place. So we have tried to remove the cartridge to check this out, but can't seem to remove it. Two questions - how on earth do you remove this thing? And do you think it sounds like we do need new valves or the existing ones fetching out and refitting? Photo of one attached
This is the cartridge. There are two check valves either side of the cartridge and two filters on the cartridge which need to be checked to see if they are blocked etc.
An adjuustable spanner or box spanner should do the job of removing it.
