To see if it could be a faulty cartridge , see if you can get hold ofthe hot supply pipe before it enters the shower or perhaps as it leaves theboiler.
Ifwhen holding this pipe the temperature fluctuates or goes cool then the problemis not with the shower but more likely with the boiler as the shower can onlydeliver what the boiler sends to it.
Disregard the temperature at the taps as they have a different flowrate.
Also check the filters on the cartridge and that the head and hose are clear. If all is well then the engineer was correct and you will need this,

This is a bath store shower, would this be the correct one? If so, could you please email me the installation details, as I cannot seem to be able to remove the chrome circular piece to get the valve out. If it's just stiff are there any recommended ways I can do to release it?
