Does the cartridge kit include the brass retaining ring for mounting it into the shower body?

No you reuse your existing ring, I see you have taped up your old ting probably thinking that the valve was leaking from there, however the seals are on the cartridge the ring is purely for holding the cartridge in place and has nothing to do with water tightness

Are you able to supply a replacement ring as well as the cartridge? The one I have is sheared into 2 halves which has a strangely significant effect on water tightness.
