Deva Azure flow valve removal

Iam trying to remove the flow valve from a Deva Azure shower as it has gone stiff and I need to clean it. I have reacjed it but when I try to turn it with a large spanner it just won't move. Do I hav eto loosen / remove anything else first please ?

The front section, www.showerdoc.com/deva-flow-cartridge-for-azure-shw-front-sp077-azureshw

unscrews, and the rear , www.showerdoc.com/deva-thermo-rear-cartridge-for-azure-ethos-envy-shw-sp037-azureshw

just pulls out. If it does not , spray the area with some WD 40 then try again.
