removal of deva flow cartridge for azure shower sp077

I'm having difficulty turning my azure shower on, it gets very stiff in certain places. I have took the handle apart and have found that it is the flow cartridge that is the issue. I want to replace this but am having difficulty removing it, has the 'castle' like back end of the valve got anything to do with this or am I just not turning it hard enough? any advice would be grateful. Thanks.

There should be no reason for this not coming out if you canget to it try pouring a few kettles of boiling hot water over the valve thismay expand it just enough to release any stiction.
