No cold water coming through at all

there is no cold water coming through at all, any suggestions what could be causing this and what part would I need to purchase. also I am having difficulty in getting into the tap, what size spanner is needed

If there is cold getting to the tap then you may have a faulty cartridge.
We do not have the nut that holds the cartridge in place in stock so I do not know the size that you may need.
