can you suggest a replacement for the above which would involve the least amount of re-plumbing/electrical work? as the red plastic component behind the flow control knob has disintegrated

Unfortunately there is nothing on the market that replaces this shower , without replumbing and change of electrical input.

If you have room to move the shower to the other side , the above is a possibility.
