Gainsborough 820E Shower

Our shower is not getting as hot as it did before but not lost all its heat - do you know what might be the cause ?

Good morning,

Thank you for your email.

If the shower is only producing lukewarm water at best, then it could well be a faulty element on top of the heating can. The heater can assembly may now only be working on half power, which will not allow it to heat the water to the levels it was once able to do. However, to be sure that it is a fault with the elements and not in the supply from the microswitches (located on the pressure switch assembly), you will need to test the elements with a digital multimeter. When tested with a multimeter, the elements should display a resistance reading of between 12>18k ohms. If the reading obtained across one or more of the elements is any less than this, then the heater can assembly will need to be replaced. If the heating can appears to be working properly, the fault may well be with the microswitches on the pressure switch assembly.

Unfortunately, if it is the original Gainsborough 820E shower that you have, then the heater can assembly cannot be replaced as it is obsolete in this model.

Regards,

The Shower Doctor.
