Too Hot/Too Cold

My Gainsborough EL900 shower seems to have a couple of problems:

1. It doesn't always come on first time so as soon as you let go of the High/Medium/Low button it goes off. You need to do this a few times before it starts. Sometimes it comes on first time.

2. The "clean showerhead" light always flashes - the showerhead is fine

3. The shower, even on medium, with the dial down very low, can jump up to super hot, or it can be really cold. Changing between settings doesn't work every time, then it sometimes just drops or jumps in temp again. The water pressure tends to drop at this point too.

Any idea what the problem could be?

The things to check first are.

1 That the main valve coming into your house is fully open.

2 Then check that the valve on the line to the shower is fully open.

If these valves are not fully open then there may not be enough water
getting to your shower to cool it properly the overheat safety device will turn
the power off until it cools Then it all starts again

Make sure that the shower head is clean and clear, that the hose isn’t kinked (this can happen just behind the hand set where it is difficult to see) also check the inside of the hose although it can look OK on the outside it could have collapsed internally

Also make sure that the shower is connected to the water mains.

Thanks - this problem is relatively new - the shower used to work fine.

The main valve is fine as the water pressure, even in the bath which the shower is in, is fine.

The valve to the shower has never been touched.

The showerhead is clean and clear and there are no kinks in the hose.
