This question is regarding Gainsborough Princess (1997) - Shower Spares

power rating of Gainsborough princess 97

Hi. We have bought a house with this shower. The fuse box is hard to fathom so I don't know what wiring has been used for the shower. Is the Gainsborough princess 97 guaranteed to have wiring that another 9.5 or 8.5 shower could use (as per your replacement suggestions). We will be redoing the bathroom and though the shower works well we reckon it would be wise to replace when cubicle is re-sited . Thanks

It came with different ratings there should be a plastic sticker on the underside of the cover and/or inside the unit, also it is stamped into the top of the heating can although this may be difficult to see.

Fitting a more powerful shower to the existing wiring.

If your existing shower was installed with 6mm wiring (as it should have been) then fitting another shower (even up to one of the 10kw units) to the existing wiring should be no problem, depending on the length of the run off cable and how the cable is installed.

Here is a table that allows you to work out what you can do with the existing wiring, make sure you fill it in accurately as this can make a large difference to the eventual calculation.

You may also have to change the fuse

Up to 8.5kw 35 Amp fuse

Up to 9.5kw 40 Amp Fuse

Up to 10.5kw 45 Amp Fuse
