Gainsborough Royale Antique SHower

Hi Our shower was fitted around 12 years ago we have never really had hot ,hot water. I read in one of the questions below something about adjustment screws. Please can you tell me if adjusting these may help and if so how to do it or do we need a new thermostat and if so do you still stock them for this model

First you need to check that you are getting hot water to the valve, try and get hold of the hot inlet pipe or elbow and check that the water there is a lot hotter than you are getting from the head.

If the water is hot then you need to give it a strip down clean lube and fit a service kit, you could at this point fit a new thermostat and piston however it may not be necessary the best plan is to reassemble the valve and test it, to set the hot water temperature, you need a small thin screwdriver down the centre spindle screw anti clockwise for hotter and clockwise for cooler. If the valve won’t set up then you probably need the thermostat and piston kit.

The only problem you may have is if you have the older cartridge, this cartridge has a step in it and the Piston and Thermostat are obsolete.
