Galaxy 3000si heater tank blown

I replaced the solonoid after the shower stopped turning on which seemed to fix it but a few minutes later pressure built up and blew a hole in the heater tank. Can the existing heater element be fitted into a new heater tank and sealed properly? How does it seal?

In theory the old element can be fitted to a new tank, butthere should be no way that pressure should be able to build up and blow a holein the tank, I worry that there is something else wrong and without seeing it Ican’t offer any advice.
