Shower stopping.
If you feel your MCB heating up you may just have to replace your MCB

Sorry for the delay in responding. The shower is 8.5kw and the MCB is D40 (240/415v). I have also replaced the micro switches, no change. I have tried the shower today, noting that the outside temperature is higher (10 degrees C) than previous weeks.
I set the temp dial to 5 and switched on - the water temp was hand hot and it ran without tripping the MCB.
I set the temp dial to 6 and switched on - the water temper was hot then cold then hot and so on. It did not trip the MCB.
I set the temp dial to 7 and switched on - the water temp was hot then cold and very little flow.
Previously when the outside temp was low, the shower would trip the MCB when the temp dial was at 5 and above. So the temperature of the cold water supply must be affecting the performance of an internal component of the shower. Is it possible that one of the heating elements has stopped working and the other one is struggling to cope with the increase in temperature demand?

The things to check first are:
1 That the main valve coming into your house is fully open.
2 Then check that the valve on the line to the shower is fully open.
If these valves are not fully open then there may not be enough water getting to your shower to cool it properly
Make sure that the shower head is clean and clear, that the hose isn’t kinked (this can happen just behind the hand set where it is difficult to see) also check the inside of the hose although it can look OK on the outside it could have collapsed internally
The other possibility is a faulty flow/stabilizer valve not allowing the correct amount of water into the shower.
Once this is sorted we can look at the cutting out if it hasn't resolved it.s self.

I have checked the water supply and it is good. I have cleaned the shower head.
I have set the temperature dial from 1 to 6 and found the following.
Set 1 - Very good water flow, water cold, MCB tripped after about 2 mins.
Set 2 - Very good water flow, water cold to warm, MCB tripped after about 2 mins.
Set 3 - Very good water flow, water barely warm, MCB tripped after about 2 mins.
Set 4 - Good water flow, water barely warm, MCB tripped after about a minute.
Set 5 - Good water flow, water warm, MCB tripped after about 2 mins.
Set 6 - Reduced water flow, water hand hot, MCB tripped after 2 mins.
The shower head setting was for normal flow and the shower 'Power' light illuminated on each setting prior to the MCB tripping.
Prior to this problem we could enjoy a hot shower on setting 4 to 5 for a reasonable length of time.
