Noisy shower

My shower is very noisy when switched on , you would think it was a lawnmower or a strummer rather than a shower going by the noise after a while the noise quietens down , but all the neighbours are awake by then , any advice

It maybe lack of water getting to the shower that is causing this or the motor on its way out.
