Shower hot then cold

Hi Our shower is not keeping its temperature it gets warm and then goes cold and then goes hot and then cold....this continues the whole duration of the shower. I am wondering if we have a faulty shower. Three years ago when this was under guarantee we had an issue with the shower not getting warm at all. A new Galaxy Canister Assy. 8.5kw 240v SG08005 was replaced. The shower has not been working that great since then. It was better but in the last 12 months it stays hot for a few minutes then goes cold for a few minutes and continues alternating between hot and cold. It sometimes smells like something is overheating inside. Can you suggest the best thing to do. The cheapest as a new shower the same is £187. Can we change the whole back plate or is better to get a new shower. What showers are there that have the pump and are similar to the galaxy 9000xp 8.5KW. Many thanks

The things to check first are:

1 That the main valve coming into your house is fully open.

2 Then check that the valve on the line to the shower is fully open.

If these valves are not fully open then there may not be enough water getting to your shower to cool it properly

Make sure that the shower head is clean and clear, that the hose isn’t kinked (this can happen just behind the hand set where it is difficult to see) also check the inside of the hose although it can look OK on the outside it could have collapsed internally

The other possibility is a faulty flow/stabilizer valve not allowing the correct amount of water into the shower.

If there is a smell from the shower you should stop using it and get it checked.
