Melted components

2 months ago, I refitted the brackets that hold the microswitches controlling power to the heating elements (dial 7). Now the unit malfunctioned, when looking inside, I could see the microswitch, the wire leading from the switch to the heating element and a few surrounding components had melted, or shown signs of melting. Looking at the melt/burn pattern, it appears to have come from the connection between the microswitch and the wire described above. I understand that a poor connection/high resistance can cause heating, but the cable looks properly attached to the microswitch and there's not many ways you can get it wrong. is there something else I've not thought of?

If you get any heat up for any reason, the spade connector on the end of the wire can slightly slacken where it pushes on to the terminal on the micro switch, which causes a little resistance and this causes it to slacken the grip on the connector a little more ....and so on.

This can sometimes be a manufacturing fault with the connector or with the assembly.
