Grohe Aquatower 27200/27202

Hot water is not coming through properly. Turning the thermostat knob makes no difference but turning the shut-off knob open and closed sometimes eventually gets a warm shower. Any ideas on the most likely cause?

Checking the filters on the cartridge are not blocked is the first thing to do.
