Advice please

The info you provided indicates that "the old spindle screw will have to be used". This being the case, are you referring to the assembly with the splined shaft - if yes how is this removed from the main body? I ask, as I've removed the split ring (securing same to the valve body), but the centre won't budge and last thing I want to do is to damage same - what's your technique for removal?

It refers to the small screw that goes into the splined end of the cartridge. The screw just should unscrew.
