Bristan Colonial Shower

Please can you help. In an attempt to loosen up our mixer shower I removed the cartridge, soaked it, lubed it and replaced it. If I didn’t replace it correctly because I perhaps didn’t close off the valves before I re fitted it, could that be the reason why the hot water flow in our house is not good ? I’m wondering if because I didn’t close the valves the cold water is constantly mixing with the hot water and that’s why we can’t get hot water elsewhere, unless we ope up a cold tap in another room. It’s very confusing but I’m wondering if this could be a valid reason. Hope you can help please ? Thank you !

Not closing the valves properly when you were working with the shower should not have caused any problems.

Without seeing your system it is difficult to say what the problem is.

However two thoughts spring to mind.

They are not always fitted however on the valve inlets there should be check valves this stops the hot water entering the cold pipe and the cold water entering the hot pipe, if one of these check valves is stuck in the open position it could allow hot/cold mixing.

The other thought is if this wasn't a problem before then you could have a partial air lock in the hot supply pipe work.
