New thermostat?

How can I tell if the shower needs a new cartridge at £132 or just the thermostat @ £68?. The temp control turns freely but provides no temperature variation. I presume if I take the cartridge out then I will also need a seal kit ?

Thanks

With the Sirrus 1800 series that in almost every occasion thefirst thing to do is give them a strip down clean and lube and fit a servicekit, this will cure 85% of any problems and it is also the cheapest thing todo.

If after servicing you find out that it needs a thermostat or piston, nothing is really lost because it almost certainly needed a service in anycase.
