sk1850-2 installed but unable to keep constant temperature

Please can someone help. My plumber installed the new cartridge as the spindle holding the previous one snapped. Now it has the following issues 1) there is a tiny range between the shower being too cold and too hot. Therefore it is impossible to get a comfortable shower temperature 2) the shower temperature gets colder every 60 secs during the shower and you have to alter the temperature but because you cant get the right temperature it is impossible to get a comfortable temperature. My plumber has installed the thermostat. Please help? It is also noticeable that the thermostat seems slower to respond with the new cartridge but was working fine with the old cartridge.

It sounds like the thermostat may be fitted incorrectly or is faulty or that the shuttle is not greased enough. But if the shower is off a combi boiler , the boiler could be cycling.

Thanks Barrie for your reply.
I also have a shower pump. However the old cartridge was working.
How could the thermostat be fitted
Incorrectly surely there is no scope for that. It is an old boiler, not a combi. Also we have one of those torpedo hot water tanks.
Thanks for your input.

Hi
The shuttle is not part of the thermostatic cartridge ? It has not been replaced so if it was working with old cartridge why should it need regreasing?
I'm not a plumber and I may be entirely wrong. Please explain further.

Many thanks

With the Sirrus 1800 series that in almost every occasion the first thing to do is give them a strip down clean and lube and fit a service kit, this will cure 85% of any problems and it is also the cheapest thing to do.

If after servicing you find out that it needs a thermostat or piston, nothing is really lost because it almost certainly needed a service in any case.

There is no real difficulty with this valve however it is a little more complicated than the 1500 just take photos as you strip it down you can then refer to them when you are rebuilding.
