I have been trying to fix a Bristan Acute that somebody attempted to repair before me. The spring that goes behind the piston appears to be missing. Is this available as a spare/

This is not a stock item and only available with a cartridge.

But if you send me your address I will send one I have spare out to you.

Thank you for sending the missing spring. It is now fitted and is up and working satis. I envisaged a problem with holding the four components in line in a horizontal plane while reassembling - I seem to remember having real problems with this in the past. In the factory it's probably positioned vertically when assembled making it much easier.

A big blob of silicone lubricant just doesn't do it. I managed this time by holding the spring to the end of the piston with a lump of margarine! - being something that solid at room temperature and dissolves in hot water.
