Thermostat

Hi I ordered a thermostat for the old metal piston type by mistake, it looks identical to the plastic piston version can you tell me if its ok to use

Yes it should be OK some of the earlier plastic pistons used the shorter thermostat.

can you advise me which way the thermostat is place in , my manual shows it both ways around, i.e. the rubber end to the rear or in another diagram like yours it shows it to the front where the control is
