Loose Lever

The Lever has become very loose. normally 3 o'clock is perfect temp but now its cold there and it doesn't stay at that position anymore - drops down to 6 o'clock. To get it to work you have to turn to max heat (12 o'clock) and then bring it down to around 1-2 o'clock to cool it to warm, it can stay at that position. It is a simple job? need a plumber? need new parts? The Shower is 10 years old so is it worth just replacing whole thing? need some advice please Many Thanks

Near the spindle end of the cartridge there is a groove which should have a thick "O" ring in it. This is designed to hold the handle to stop it from slipping.
The "O" ring may be damaged or worn.
