Removing Trevi Therm Cartridge - Pre 1998

What is the procedure for removing the thermostatic control cartridge part A963068NU from a Trevi pre-1998 shower?

Depending on the showers age the knobs are held on with two different types of carriers the older one is like a rocket and is secured by two Alen screws in the tail fins.

The newer units are removed by pushing the black clips clock wise and pulling off
