Meynell V6 Recessed Head Assembly sphd0013j

I have an old Shower Stream recessed valve which is difficult to turn off. On the inside of the control knob there is a sticker which shows V6 Thermostatic Meynell Ltd Wolverhampton SN 004032. I ordered the head assembly (sphd0013j) which has arrived and looks as though it will fit. The main difference is the length of the spline shaft onto which the knob is secured the shaft on the replacement being somewhat longer than the original. The knob fits onto the spline shaft but stands away from the concealing plate. I wonder if there is a "longer' knob replacement. I attach three images the first showing the two spline shafts, the second showing the knob on the existing, and the third showing roughly how the knob will be on the replacement. Any help appreciated.

You seem to have an older version.

The only knob that is available is with the above kit.
