V6 or V8?

I can't get the knob off to look for a serial number is there another way to determine if the valve is V6 or V8? It's a gold built in valve with 4 finger depressions, a short lever, the temp markings are blue and red blocks of varying thickness, the Meynell symbol is not like the one above but is 2 interlocking Ms. The shower is likely to have been installed about 18 years ago.

The Easy identifier is the inlet elbows, the V8 elbows are rounded and the V6 are more square also if you look carefully you will see that the concealing plates are slightly different.

The heads can be difficult to remove in the first instance try pouring a few kettles of boiling water over the head this may expand it just enough to help release it from the spindle.

Our engineers have occasionally have had to cut the head of with a hacksaw and replace the head
