Noisy and intermittent Meynell Vitesse shower unit.

Hi I have just moved into a house with a Meynell Vitesse shower unit. It appears to be fed by both hot and cold water tanks, so I'm assuming it is pump/thermostat only??? It is quite noisy and sometimes there is no water flow. I'd be grateful for any suggestions - I'd like to think it'll be something easy like the brushes but I really don't know. My DIY skills are very good but, embarrassingly, the first thing I'd like you to tell me is how do I get the front cover off! I pulled off the temperature knob but couldn't get the next couple of collars off to remove the cover - I was hoping to see a clip or concealed screw but there was nothing obvious. Any advice gratefully received.

Many thanks in advance.

Check the filters, head and hose are clear and you are getting a constant flow ow water to the shower as a noisy motor usually means water starvation.
