I need to remove the control knob in order to investigate a drip.It seems to have seized on the knurled shaft and it would seem that I would have to use extreme force to remove it.As it is a discontinued part I am somewhat reticence to use this force, what am I doing wrong.Mike

You can use WD 40 to loosen the knob. Or try pouring hot water over the knob to expand it a little.
