Old shower to new combi

Hi, I have a g72 shower, I'm changing to combi boiler, why do I need to change the cartridge? Will it not work with existing cartridge.?

The G72 is designed as a low pressure shower.

If the pressure from the combi is not too high and the pressuresin the hot and cold supplies are roughly equal then with a new set of seals thevalve can still work.
