internal barrel too tight to remove . . . options?

The excellent video describes slackening the hex nut by using the key in the housing. Unfortunately the nut is so tight it bent the key, so I didn't manage to remove it. Therefore I could only replace the external seals. Shower works but still drips etc. Is there any jig available to provide an option to open the nut without gripping the barrel (which George warns against)?

Also: may seem obvious but it doesn't say which bits to actually lubricate.

Cheers

The complete cartridge assembly can be replaced.....But the price is horrendous

My only thought is if you can’t get it to move is putting it in the vice but if it won’t come by using the key you will probably have to grip it that hard in the vice you are likely to damage it.

Perhaps if you were to heat the end of the nut with a gas torch that may help to release it

Sorry I can’t be more help it looks like you are between a rock and a hard place.

Regarding lubricating just really lightly smearing grease on all the ‘O’ rings and moving parts
