Mira 723 Cartridge Service

Having followed the excellent video re fitting the service pack components I came to the point where the thermostatic spring component is separated from the cartridge. The video indicates the parts should just slide apart, but may be stiff, and NOT to try levering apart with a screwdriver. I am totally unable to separate these two sections. Can you suggest a way of achieving this without damaging the cartridge?

I presume you mean that the spring (Bi-metallic coil) andsleeve will not come apart from the main pillar, You could try running some boilingwater over the sleeve and spring then grab then with a cloth and twist and pullapart.

Ultimately you may have to slip two screwdrivers in betweenthe base of the pillar and the bottom of the sleeve, make sure that the screwdriversgo all the way in so you are levering up against the body of the sleeve not thebottom flange.

Ultimately there is no guarantee that you won’t damage theparts, on the up side the parts are still available so although costly you willbe able to repair it
