replacing Mira 88

I want to replace a Mira 88B which leaks and is stiff to operate (both the temperature and flow rate fluctuate wildly) with a more modern shower with lever instead of knurled knob control (my hands are becoming arthritic so this would be easier) ... however I really don't want to wreck the expensive tiles/wall if at all possible. Is it possible to get a different unit which has the same or similar dimensions that will fit with pipework to fit in it's place?

I am afraid that there is nothing that will be a straight forward swap.

Assuming that it isn’t connected to a combi boiler.

All I can suggest is fitting a complete set of internals and new knobs this should restore the easy operation of the valve
