Mira Element surface mounted
If the temperature issues are isolated to the shower only then the cartridge will need replaced. The red nut comes off the front of the cartridge like in the image and this will reveal a nut to remove the cartridge form the body.

All there is , is the top of the brass cartridge with two brass lugs projecting outwards towards the valve casing. These lugs are located at 180deg to each other and are fitted to respective slots but I cannot see any way in which the cartridge can be screwed out or indeed just pulled out [in any event, if it were just a question of just pulling the cartridge out then when the water is turned on the cartridge and its lever assembly would just be forced out of the casing!]
There may be a bezel ring holding the cartridge in place but I cannot see any way in which it can be twisted, turned, unscrewed or anything
Please advise.

It is a Mira Element Built in . The cartridge appears to be plastic not brass.
I still have the same problem over removal

The cartridge is plastic, not brass.
Would you agree best course of action is to order the 'O Tool' 1063671, remove the cartridge for positive identification purposes and then move on to order the cartridge accordingly?
Look forward to hearing from you.

Both cartridge bodies are plastic on the showers and cartridges i suggested, however the nut that holds them in to the body are brass on both models of Elements.
If you have the standard element then i would purchase the tool too.

If you have the Element SLT then the toll is included with the cartridge.

I attache new photgraps of this Mira Elements valve which has the control removed. Can you please identify this cartridge and advise. ? Obviously we will have to order a new tool as well as the new cartridge.
I trust you will accept the return of the unused 'O' tool for credit ?

This should also help.

Do you have to remove the smaller seperate part shown on your cartridge illustration before the 'O' tool will physically fit because I said, at the moment it does not fit at all?

Order No 1312988
I am sorry to keep bothering you but I have ordered / received the replacement Mira thermostatic cartridge. The original as been removed and replaced with the new one.
The shower still delivers cold water, no hot water!
I have removed and cleaned both of the inlet filters. Still no Hot water!
[Hot water is available in both the bath and the basin]
Can you please assist with suggestions that may effect a cure.
[It seems to me to be very strange that the original complaint was that of no hot water, and it remains to be so!]
Please respond as soon as possible

If when holding this pipe the temperature fluctuates or goes cool, then the problem is not with the shower but more likely with the boiler, as the shower can only deliver what the boiler sends to it.
Disregard the temperature at the taps as they have a different flow rate.

I have been to the property and have done as you have suggested - the hot feed pipe remans cold after some three
or four minutes running full on !
The shower in the second bathroom some 10 ' across the landing works perfectly.
Is there any possibility that this new cartridge might be faulty?
What would be the cost of an engineer call out?
Answered 6 years ago by David Madsen
You would need to contact Mira about engineers costs.

In this case there is no hot water at all, not even luke warm, exactly as per the original cartridge!
Do you know what the filter cap thread is?
I am going to try putting some sort of pipe in to the filter aperture and turn the valve fully anti clockwise to positively establish water flow to the valve on the hot side.
If this is successful then there can be only one conclusion, i.e. the cartridge you supplied is faulty.

in place with some tube so that I can turn the control to full hot, turn the mains on and establish flow
of hot water from the boiler. If this flow of hot water is not established conclusively it must be a boiler
fault rather than the cartridge.
But, having said that, there is no problem with the Mira Elements second shower 10' away or any basin etc hot water tap
Please advise URGENTLY

This whole issue has become rediculous. I have visited thi property at least 10 times with no real progress being made at all.
I have actually got the shower to work but it is in reverse to what it should be i.e. From closed anti clockwise through cold to hot. It was left working in this condition for about a week but I have now been advised that hot water has again stopped completely.
It is not the boier - all hot taps and the other built in Mira Elements shower are working perfectly. The only conclusion I can come to is that the replacement cartridge supplied by you is faulty.
I have been communicating with Mira [Martyn Lucas] extensively but with no result other than advice we should speak to you.
Will you please send a replacement as quickly as possible.
I will return yourfaulty original immediately it has been replaced
This is very URGENT. I want this problem cured as quickly as possible - I have been dealing with it for several weeks now!
