Little water flow

I have stripped the inlet valve as described and found that my problem is the pin which open/closes the valve. It seems not to open the valve fully and so little water flow. I have tried packing the end so the spindle pushes the pin in more and works but when it is turned off there is a trickle of water from the shower!

You mention changing the assembly for a new one but change the spindle, would this old spindle on a new part solve my problem?

Thanks

Yes you need a new pilot valve and may need to change over the spindle, which is a straight forward job.
