Shower leaking from bottom around hose outlet.

My shower has been leaking from the bottom around the hose outlet for several months. I finally got round to replacing the shower hose but it still leaked so I took off the cover and had a look. With just the water on there are no leaks but as soon as I turn the power on water sprays out around the impellor in the pump housing.

The shower is badged as an Aquatronic Thermostatic Power shower, bought from Wickes in 2002 although the internal view is identical to the diagram you have of the Mira Essentials Thermostatic Power Shower - post 1999

1. Is it dangerous to use? I've been using it for months without worrying as I though it was the hose, now I have "guilty knowledge"!

2 Is there anything to replace or clean up without having to replace the whole pump assy?

3.If I have to replace the assy do I need to turn off the water to the shower. The cold isolator must be somewhere in the loft from the cold header tank as I can't seem to isolate it from anywhere else.

The shower is 10 years old and was fitted when I moved into the house and I really can't face the expense of complete replacement or the problems trying to match up the exisiting pipe work and holes in my tiles.

1.  Water and electricity are not a good mix so must recommend you get this fixed.
2.  The pump/motor assembly cnnot be repaired so must be replaced.
3.  As long as the valve is turned to off it should not be necessary to isolate wateer supplies but to be safe would recommend you do so.
Replacement pump/motor assembly can be ordered online by clicking on this link.
