Intermittent pump failure

Hello. For several years now the pump of our 1999 Event T has worked intermittently. Occasionally it works like new, normally it comes up to about half speed perhaps 10 seconds after switched on to full, sometimes only after given a bit of a thump. Now every couple of weeks it doesn't come on at all; the water just dribbles out at the right temperature. Can you please diagnose and prescribe? Thanks a lot. Joe
