carbon? deposits inside shower casing

Hi,

our Mira Event XS has been making some unpleasant noises of late (sounds like rubber against a metal surface, such as squeaking bicycle brakes) so I popped the case open this morning to see what I could see, and what I found was a whole lot of black dust inside particularly on the casing over where the motor coil is. Kinda thinking this might be bad :) Any advice?

Yes this is just the carbon of the brushes wearing down.

Unfortunately the brushes for this are now obsolete.
