No cold water getting through shower

I have a mira excel mixer shower whilst fitting a new cartridge we turned water off. When fitted turned cold water back on first and discovered that only a drip getting through but hot is powerful but not very hot once coming through shower is thus because it has no cold water to mix with? Think my cold water pipe must be blocked if I unblock it and get supply working normally to shower will the shower work normally again ? Don't know if this has been my problem all along and maybe didn't need a new cartridge !

Remove the cartridge and check if you are getting hot and cold water to the shower body.
