The fit of the concealing plate

I have just had a new cartridge fitted as inhave changed to a combo boiler. My shower is a Mira excel thermostatic . When I looked after the plumber had gone the plate could be turned round never been like this before . My son came and looked and there is nothing on the back of the plate to fix it to the plastic thing (sorry don’t know what that is called)and there was a foam seal thrown in the bin. Obviously the plumber( he’s a family friend and has been a plumber for 40years-I have always trusted him before) has done it but as he’s a friend I don’t like complaining. What I would like to know is do I need another seal and how does the plate fit to the plastic. I thought it just clipped into a couple places and you turned it slightly. Help!!!

There should be a foam pad then a white plastic ring that screws into the shower holding the foam pad in place then the cover plate should just clip to the plastic ring.

The foam pad is generally not absolutely essential but should be there, check that the plastic ring is fitted the right way round it may be that the cover plate retaining clips are facing the wall instead of facing out (Easy to forget which way round itm goes)
