This question is regarding Mira Excel (Post 2003) Cartridge Assembly - 451.71

No hot water

Approx 2 hours after using the shower, at which time it was working perfectly, the shower was turned on and the flow was very poor, almost as if the shower was not receiving enough water. This was while the shower was at heat setting 5 our normal setting in summer. As soon as the heat was turned down to position 1 normal high pressure water flow was resumed, however as soon as I tried turning up the heat the pressure died away to almost nil again. I tried checking the pipe back to the combi boiler and found that it was cold for approx 1.25 metres and only started getting warm as it got to the junction of the feed pipe. On the other side of the junction which feeds all the taps in the house, the pipes are hot and each hot tap supplied is giving hot water with no problems. Is the problem most likely the cartridge assembly or are there some filters in the cartridge that need changed, replaced or cleaned? The way the water and flow cuts off, when hot water is requested suggests a blockage to me but I am working without instructions and somewhat in the dark as it were. Any help would be appreciated.

Strip the cartridge out and check that the filters are clean if cleaning the filters has no effect then if everything else is working properly then you will need to replace the cartridge.
