Mira Extra Thermostatic Valve for Bath mounting head stuck on

My valve was fitted new circa 1996 The shower no longer delivers water when turned on. To inspect the cart assembly I have been unable to remove the shower knob from the spline by levering or pulling off. There is no grub screw to remove it just looks like a push fit. I don't believe the knob has ever been removed any suggestions on how to get it off

The link came from a post 99 shower which has a grub screw  but you say your shower is circa 96 so I am not sure that I have the right mixer.

However regardless all the Bath shower mixers can have a problem removing the head.

Once you are sure that you have removed any grub or head retaining screw, try and get two screwdrivers in between the base of the knob and the tap body and then lever up and forward turning the head about a ¼ turn at a time, making sure you don’t damage the chrome on the tap

If this doesn’t work you can try two or three kettles of boiling hot water over the tap head this may expand it just enough to allow it to release when you are levering, the next step would be a gas torch or a hot air paint stripper, making sure that you don’t damage the tap head, failing that we can sell you some TNT ! Ultimately you may have to cut the head off with a hack saw and replace it.
