Mira Extra bath/shower unit

Shower dribbles instead of producing a spray. Header tank checked & full of water. Shower head cleaned & is clear of any blockages. If shower head is lowered down to bath tap level then spray comes on and seems much better, what could be the problem?

The shower sounds like it is fed from a pump, which will kick in when the head is lowered due to the shower head not being far enough from the bottom of the cold water tank. This is called a negative head situation.
