Mira Gem 88 Exposed Shower hose stuck

My Mira Gem 88 Exposed unit (which is about 4 years old) needs a new shower hose so should be simple, but I cant seem to get it to unscrew on the base of the unit. Iv been told by Mira its just a simple anti-lockwise screw by hand but it wont budge. Does this unit need to come apart to be unscrewed or is it just really tight due to the tread being full of limescale? If limescale, what tool would be best to get a better grip?

Cheers

Try spraying some WD40 on the area then use a set of adjustable grips to remove the hose.
