Noise

Hi, For several years I've had a high pitched whine noise coming from my Mira Select shower valve, which unforunately starts when the flow rate versus temperature is at the perfect setting. If I increase or decrease the water flow, it goes away or if I bang the front face of the valve with my hand when it remains at the perfect setting, it also goes away. I bought a Mira flow regulator kit about two years back, but the instructions were very sketchy as to where the insert should be fitted, so I never got around to fitting it. Does it need another part or is the regulator piece the way to go or is there another problem......Can you help in any way please because it is driving me absolutely crazy? Regards. Robert

The noise is usually due to pressure. I take it that you have a combi boiler and the cartridge has been set up for this at the back.
The flow regulators usually go in the inlet elbows or the outlet to the hose.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

Bryant homes built my house and scores of others that surround me. My previous house had a combi boiler which didn't go via a cylinder, but the system in this house apparently uses a condensing boiler? and does have a large cylinder. I can only assume that all the homes including mine had the cartridges set up correctly, but I am not 100% sure of course.

It sounds easy enough to pop a regulator to the hose outlet, but as far as fitting to the inlet elbows is concerned, where would be in relation to the schematic diagram posted on your website please (www.showerdoc.com/mira-select-post-2001-shower-spares)?

Regards,

Between Part 2 and the next part after the part A would be the best place for a flow restricter.
