Mira Sport Electric shower

last night we heard a bang noise and suddenly water was shooting from the shower head and also running down out of the shower box unit. The electric switch was turned off and the button on the shower had not been pressed. We turned the water off at the mains, which obv stopped the flow. Checked the electrics and the pull switch turned red/on when pulled, we then turned this off again. We then turned of the mains fuse to the shower. When turning the main back on, water starts gushing out from the same place, number 7 on your picture. we have watched your videos but cant find a PRV on this picture for a Mira? hope you can help with which part we need. thankyou.

The PRD can be see on the bottom of the heating can, it is a red ball .

It is unusual for the Pressure Relief Device (PRD) to have activated without someone using the shower , but

it’s a safety device on the bottom of the heating tank.

It is fairly easy to replace however there is usually something that causes it to activate, often a kink in the hose or the showerhead is blocked, so check this before fitting the new PRD.

thank you for your quick reply. Do I have to replace the whole heater unit as the little red ball is inside the bottom of that, unlike other pressure relief valves I have watched on your youtube videos that seem to be housed in a small plastic cases attached to the heaters. thanks
