Nothing, not even lights!

Now old and mended a few times. Pull the isolation cord and there is no sign of life in the shower, not even lights. Was functioning but the off button had stopped working, so it was necessary to turn it off with the isolator pull cord for the last few weeks.

You need to check that there is 230-240v into the shower.

Hi Barrie
I’ve renewed the isolation switch as the pull cord was snapped anyway.
No difference, so I checked for 240v at the shower, that is ok.
But shower is dead. The push off button had stopped working recently.
We did have to use the isolator to turn it off.
Might that have damaged the circuit board?

There is no circuit board in this shower. www.showerdoc.com/mira-sport-post-1998-shower-spares

It may be your solenoid valve, you can check it if you have a multi meter, you should have a reading of at least k3.5 ohms, across the two terminals any less and you need a new valve. (Check the valve in the failed state.) (When it has stopped working!)

If there is power getting to the solenoid and it is not operating then there is a good chance that you have a faulty solenoid.

The video is intended as a guide and does not cover every shower.

If you don’t have a multimeter we sell them with a guide on how to use them for checking and testing the various parts of your shower.

Apart from helping to fix your shower, they are really useful for checking you have a power supply to appliances, for checking fuses and letting you know much power you have left in batteries

(So you will know if they are good or not) and lots of other jobs, in short they are well worth a few pounds

Tested that, reads ok at 3.9k.
I’ve replaced a number of parts over the years, but never had it not even lighting up the lights, Is this an obvious symptom?

Strange if you are having 240 going into the shower and the power light not lighting .....It almost cant happen unless the neon has gone out.

Art you testing the power with a meter or a neon screwdriver?

If you are using a meter it is possible that you will get a 240 reading but if you then turn the shower on it will drop off which will tend to point to a faulty neutral. (Usually in the isolation switch)

When you turn the shower on does the neon in the switch stay on?

By the neon, I assume you mean the light in the isolator switch. That comes on fine when the cord is pulled to the on position as normal.
No lights on the shower come on, the shower appears dead. Nothing at all. I tested and got 240v with a meter coming into the shower connector block. The isolator is brand new with no signs of over heating or corrosion on the old one. This happened literally overnight, showered the day before with no issue, dead the following day!

Is this definitely the shower that you have?

Sports max 10.8 bought around 2005
It’s been excellent, mended a couple of times, usually low flow indicator.

Sounds like the pcb is the problem.
