Overheating & isolating heater element.

I suspect a blocked filter because the shower gets a lot of use and we are in a max hard water area. Is there an accessible filter?

There is a filter , www.showerdoc.com/mira-sprint-2014-electric-shower part 7 in the diagram.

Turn the shower temperature control from fully cold to fully hot. When you do this slowly there should be a gradual change in temperature and flow. At fully hot you should have not much more than a dribble coming from the hose, and on fully cold you should have a good strong flow. If you do not have this difference, or the flow or temperature is erratic, then you may have a faulty flow/stabilizer valve.
