Mira Sport problem

Shower either runs very hot on full heat or cool when reduced only slightly. With power off I cannot get continuity across the thermal switch on top of the heater with multimeter. Microswitches are functioning correctly and have continuity when closed. Could this be a faulty thermal switch? Thanks John

Turn the shower temperature control from fully cold to fully hot. When you do this slowly there should be a gradual change in temperature and flow. At fully hot you should have not much more than a dribble coming from the hose, and on fully cold you should have a good strong flow. If you do not have this difference, or the flow or temperature is erratic, then you may have a faulty flow/stabilizer valve.
Check the inlet filter is not blocked first.

Filter was clear. When the temperature is slowly increased the flow does reduce slowly but the temperature rise is too slow until the very maximum when it quickly becomes too hot. There is no comfortable compromise.
Carefully checked the TCO. No continuity.
Installed a heavy jumper wire across the TCO and the shower then worked as I think it should.
Unless there is another route my plan is the replace the TCO.

If there is no continuity then there should be no power getting to the elements, so no heat at all. You say you are getting heat.

I know and I don't fully understand what's happening. I put a multimeter between the TCO wire terminal screws and there was no continuity. Installed a length of earth bonding wire clamped between the wire terminals. Checked there was continuity and tried the shower with the improved result.
I removed the wire (slightly warm) and replaced the cover.
Perhaps the TCO/dual disc set up when failing passes high current to some degree but not that of a multimeter at all.
